The Rottweiler is known for being healthy and disease-free breed. But like other dog breeds, they may suffer from health problems at some point in their lives. Some of these health problems are not really threatening however, some could adversely affect the dog without proper medical intervention.
One of the health issues common among Rottweilers as with other large dog breeds is hip dysplasia and osteochondritis dissecans. These diseases can affect the dog’s mobility therefore affecting Rottweiler training too. If your pet is diagnosed with such disease, training activities should be chosen to suit the dog’s needs. This breed is also easily affected with parvovirus while cancer has become the leading cause of early deaths.
Measures to prevent the breed from becoming obese should also be taken as obesity can lead to problems such as arthritis, breathing difficulties, diabetes, heart failure, reproductive problems, and skin disease.
Now that you are aware of the disease that can potentially affect your pet, keep an eye for signs of any of those diseases so that you will be able to seek for medical advice as soon as possible.
